    On Max-SINR Receiver for Hexagonal Multicarrier Transmission Over Doubly Dispersive Channel

    In this paper, a novel receiver for Hexagonal Multicarrier Transmission (HMT) system based on the maximizing Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (Max-SINR) criterion is proposed. Theoretical analysis shows that the prototype pulse of the proposed Max-SINR receiver should adapt to the root mean square (RMS) delay spread of the doubly dispersive (DD) channel with exponential power delay profile and U-shape Doppler spectrum. Simulation results show that the proposed Max-SINR receiver outperforms traditional projection scheme and obtains an approximation to the theoretical upper bound SINR performance within the full range of channel spread factor. Meanwhile, the SINR performance of the proposed prototype pulse is robust to the estimation error between the estimated value and the real value of time delay spread.Comment: 6 pages.     Presented herein are safeguard features for Long Range wide-area network (LoRaWAN) deployments on a LoRa gateway. The techniques presented herein provide a solution to prevent end users from wrongly or accidentally deploying LoRa gateways in unlawful Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) radio bands. The techniques presented herein require little computational and storage resources to be integrated into any LoRa gateway embedded system, operate automatically based on the standard LNS protocol, and are sufficiently flexible to suit different use cases

    Pb2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Mg2+ and Mn2+ reduce the affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for human serum albumin in vitro

    Flavone (Fl), genistein (Gen) and kaempferol (Kol) were studied for their affinities towards human serum albumin (HSA) in the presence and absence of Pb2+,Cu2+,Zn2+,Mg2+ and Mn2+. The fluorescence intensities of HSA decreased with increasing concentration of the three flavonoids. Kaempferol resulted in a blue-shift of the λem of HSA from 336 to 330 nm; flavone showed an obvious red-shift of the λem of HSA from 336 to 342 nm; genistein did not cause an obvious blue-shift or red-shift of the λem of HSA. However, the extents of λem-shifts induced by the flavonoids in the presence of metal ions were much bigger than that in the absence of mental ions. Pb2+,Cu2+,Zn2+,Mg2+ and Mn2+ reduced the quenching constants of the flavonoids for HSA by 14.6% to 60.7% , 28% to 67.9%,3.5% to 59.4%, 23.2% to 63.7% and 14% to 65%, respectively. The affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for HSA decreased about 10.84%, 10.05%and 3.56% in the presence of Pb2+, respectively. Cu2+ decreased the affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for HSA about 14.04%, 5.14%and 8.89%, respectively. Zn2+ decreased the affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for HSA about 3.79%, 0.55% and 3.58%, respectively. Mg2+ decreased the affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for HSA about 16.94%, 2.94%and 7.04%, respectively. Mn2+ decreased the affinities of flavone, genistein and kaempferol for HSA about 14.24%, 3.66% and 4.78%, respectively

    College students' cyberloafing and the sense of meaning of life: The mediating role of state anxiety and the moderating role of psychological flexibility

    BackgroundWith the gradual penetration of network media into various fields of people's life, the relationship between network behavior and the sense of meaning of life is bound to be closer and closer. The purpose of this study is to explore the mediating role of state anxiety between cyber loafing and the sense of meaning of life, and the moderating role of psychological flexibility in this mediating relationship.MethodologyWith 964 undergraduates recruited as subjects three-wave-time-lagged quantitative research design was conducted in China. All participants were required to complete a self-reported electronic questionnaire. Then, the mediating mechanism and moderating effect were explored with utilization of SPSS25.0.ResultsThe results showed that cyberloafing had significant negative correlation with the sense of meaning of life. Our analysis testing the mediating effect showed that state anxiety partially mediated the relationship between cyberloafing and the sense of meaning of life (indirect effect = −0.05, p < 0.01,), while the mediating effect was 31.25% of the total effect. Our analysis testing the moderating effect showed that psychological flexibility significantly moderated the relationship between cyberloafing and state anxiety (interaction effect = −0.26, p < 0.01). And our analysis testing the moderated mediating effect showed that psychological flexibility played a moderating role in the mediating effect of state anxiety.ConclusionBased on the findings of this study, college students' cyberloafing negatively affects their sense of meaning of life. Therefore, appropriate measures should be taken to supervise and restrict college students' Internet use and provide them with corresponding guidance; certain psychological adjustment measures should also be taken when necessary to help college students with low psychological flexibility in reducing their state anxiety and improving their sense of meaning of life

    Isolation and Characterization of Clinical Listeria monocytogenes in Beijing, China, 2014–2016

    Listeria monocytogenes is an important foodborne pathogen with a significant impact on public health worldwide. A great number of outbreaks caused by L. monocytogenes has been reported, especially in the United States, and European countries. However, listeriosis has not yet been included in notifiable disease in China, and thus information on this infection has been scarce among the Chinese population. In this study, we described a 3-year surveillance of listeriosis in Beijing, China. Fifty-six L. monocytogenes strains isolated from 49 clinical infectious cases (27 pregnancy-associated infections and 22 non-pregnancy-associated infections) were analyzed by serotyping, pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and antimicrobial susceptibility testing between 2014 and 2016 in Beijing. The predominant serogroups were 1/2a,3a and 1/2b,3b,7 which accounted for 92% of the overall isolates. Four strains were serogroup 4b,4d,4e, isolated from patients with pregnancy-associated infections. Based on PFGE, these isolates were divided into 32 pulsotypes (PTs) and 3 clusters associated with serogroups. Ten PTs were represented by more than one isolate with PT09 containing the most number of isolates. MLST differentiated the isolates into 18 STs, without new ST designated. The three most common STs were ST8 (18.4%), ST5 (16.3%), and ST87 (12.2%), accounting for 46.9% of the isolates. STs prevalent in other parts of the world were also present in China such as ST1, ST2, ST5, ST8, and ST9 which caused maternal fetal infections or outbreaks. However, the STs and serogroup distribution of clinical L. monocytogenes in Beijing, China was different from those in other countries. Strains of ST1 and ST2 were isolated from patients with pregnancy-associated infection, whereas none of ST155 isolates caused pregnancy-associated cases. Surveillance of molecular characterization will provide important information for prevention of listeriosis. This study also enhances our understanding of genetic diversity of clinical L. monocytogenes in China

    Improved Thermal Modelling and Experimental Validation of Oil-Flooded High Performance Machines with Slot-Channel Cooling

    Thermal management is often considered a bottleneck in the pursuit of the next generation electrical machines for electrified transportation with a step change in power density. Slot-channel cooling is considered to be an effective cooling technique, either as an independent method or as a secondary heat transfer path which compliments traditional cooling systems. The slot-channel specific geometry and position effects on the thermal benefits are not thoroughly investigated in literature, while previous work focuses on passing fluid through the un-used space left in between coils forming concentrated windings. In this paper, slot-channel cooling is implemented within an oil-flooded cooling system for a high power density motor used as a pump. A flexible and detailed lumped parameter thermal network (LPTN) is proposed for the cooling system, with the LPTN used to optimize the slot-channel dimensions and location for obtaining maximum thermal benefits. Finally, a surface-mount permanent magnet (SPM) machine with the optimized slot channel geometry is built and tested to validate the thermal model, experimentally achieving an armature continuous current density in excess of 30A/mm2
